WHAT WE DO

A series of activities are implemented by APU so as to improve the health and welfare of adult patients in Uganda while promoting the practice, science and art of medicine. Activities include; quarterly in-service training via Continuous Medical Education (CMEs) sessions; Annual Scientific Conferences; and specialist training.

Annual Scientific Conferences

APU’s annual scientific conference is themed to provide physicians and postgraduate trainees a platform to introduce and present their scientific work, connect with each other enhancing collaborations within the physicians’ clinical and research community. This unique dissemination platform introduces new research products and affords a platform to discuss critical policy issues. Every two years APU organizes an Annual general meeting in tandem with the conference to elect new leadership.

Quarterly CMEs

APU organizes CMEs to update screening, diagnosis, anagement, and monitoring for various conditions, providing clinicians with most recent evidence to guide care delivered by experts in the field. These CMEs are designed to reach Continuing Professional Development (CPD) standards and hence provide CPD accreditation.

Specialist Training

Being the Ugandan chapter of the East, Central and Southern Africa College of Physicians (ECSACoP), APU members at accredited clinical facilities support the postgraduate medical training in Internal Medicine for ECSACoP in Uganda. For the residents enrolled in various postgraduate programs at universities in Uganda, APU provides resident led on-demand unique clinical training sessions regularly.
